Margaret Hagen joined the New Hampshire state program as Outreach Coordinator in 2011. In this role she helps farmers, educators, organizations and communities learn about SARE grant opportunities, and disseminates results and outcomes from the state program projects. Margaret is a UNH Extension Educator working in Hillsborough County. Her educational background includes a BA in psychology from Brown University and an MS in Horticulture from Colorado State University.
Margaret Hagen has worked since 1986 in Hillsborough County assisting the local ornamentals industry and providing ornamentals programs to commercial growers as part of a state team. During this time she founded the Family, Home & Garden Education Center, designed to meet the needs of the general public by providing education and information over the breadth of Extension's programs. In addition, Margaret oversees the Master Gardener Program in Hillsborough County, tapes a weekly tv spot, "Grow It Green" for WMUR TV, and writes a column for the NH Dept of Agriculture's Weekly Market Bulletin. She is also co-author of 2 books, The Best Plants for New Hampshire Gardens and Landscapes and Landscaping at the Water's Edge: an Ecological Approach.
