Pennsylvania State Coordinator

Charlie White coordinates the Pennsylvania SARE program. Charlie joined Northeast SARE and Penn State University in 2009. He holds the position of Extension Associate in Sustainable Agriculture at Penn State University. In this position, he helps coordinate the SARE professional development and outreach programs, as well as other state-wide Extension programming in sustainable agriculture.

Having grown up in suburban Virginia, Charlie's personal involvement in agriculture did not begin until he worked at the student-run organic farm at Dartmouth College. Since then, Charlie has worked with farms, community-based agricultural organizations, and universities throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Charlie's educational background includes a B.A. in Geography from Dartmouth College and an M.S. in Soil Science from the University of Maryland. His areas of expertise are in soil fertility, soil health, and innovative cover cropping systems.
